Recently Dell unveiled new version of its popular netbook – Inspiron Mini 10. It has Intel Atom N450 CPU and 6 cell battery that provides up to nine hours of operation. Besides this device features 10.1 inch display with 1366 x 768 pixels resolution (enough for real 720p HD on screen), Broadcom Crystal HD graphics accelerator, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, 160GB or 250GB hard disk drive, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, TV tuner and cardrider. The new netbook will be shipped with Windows XP Home, Windows 7 Starter edition or Ubuntu. Dell Inspiron Mini 10 will become available in next few weeks. Prices will start at $299.
Netbooks are no longer low-powered devices with awkward keyboard. Present-day netbooks are not very different from usual laptops. One of such devices is Asus Eee PC 1201N. It features 1.6 GHz Intel Atom 330 dual core CPU and NVIDIA Ion graphics system. This device also has 2 GB DDR2 RAM, 12 inch screen with 1366 x 768 pixels resolution, 250 GB hard disk and Wi-Fi module. The list of ports includes 3 USB 2.0, HDMI and VGA. The 6-cell battery provides up to 3.5 hours of web surfing and 2.5 hours of HD video playback. Asus Eee PC 1201N will become available in next few weeks and will cost $500.
A group of researchers from Massachusetts Institute of Technology has just announced its technology. Copenhagen Wheel is revolutionary new bicycle wheel that not only boosts power, but can keep track of friends, fitness, smog and traffic. It connects to mobile device and transfers sensors data via Bluetooth. New wheel also can be used as lock. When Bluetooth connection breaks special mechanism locks the wheel.
The first information about first Google’s phone appeared some months ago. Today it was confirmed and we have the list of characteristics and some photos of this coming device. Google Nexus One is produced by HTC and runs on Android 2.1 operating system. This communicator has monoblock shape and is equipped with 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU, 3.5 inch OLED touch screen with 800×480 px resolution, 5 Mp camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth with A2DP, GPS and microSDHC memory card slot. It is expected that this communicator will become available in January and will be sold by Google online.
Skype has just released the first beta version of its VoIP client for Symbian. It has almost all features that version for desktop computers have. Skype for Symbian supports free Skype-to-Skype calls, SkypeOut calls, instant messaging, group conversation, files exchange and etc. Unfortunately not all Symbian devices are compatible with new Skype. It supports smartphones that run on Symbian S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1 and Feature Pack 2. But next versions are planned to be compatible with more phones. You can find the list of supported devices here. As for usage notes Skype is recommended to install to the phone memory.
This communicator is one the HTC’s flagship devices of the first half of 2010. HTC Bravo high-powered device belongs to Performance series and will run on Android 2.1 operating system. The main features of this communicator are 1GHz Qualcomm QSD 8250 Snapdragon CPU, 3.7 inch capacitive AMOLED touch screen with 480×800 px resolution and 5 Mp camera with double LED flash and HD video recording support. Other characteristics of HTC Bravo also look good – 320 Mb RAM, 512 Mb ROM, microSD memory card slot, Wi-Fi (802.11b/g), Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, FM radio with RDS, GPS, digital compass, proximity sensor, 3.5 mm audio jack and 1400 mAh battery. It is expected that this headset will become available in the beginning of the spring. Unfortunately there is no information about price.
Dell has just showed its new laptop. Dell Precision M6500 is positioned as mobile work station and has impressive list of technical characteristics. It will be available in some configurations. The most powerful version of this netbook is equipped with Intel Core i7-920XM Extreme Edition 2 GHz CPU, ATI FirePro M7740 graphics system with 1 Gb dedicated memory, hard drive up to 500GB and four memory slots offering up to 16GB. Dell Precision M6500 also has 17 inch screen with 1920×1200 px resolution, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, 3 Mp webcam, 5620 HSPA – EVDO Rev connectivity and 8-in-1 card reader. The list of ports include 4 USB 2.0, VGA, Display Port and RJ-45. Preliminary weight starts at 3.86kg with DVD-ROM and 9-cell battery. The operating system is Windows 7. The pricing ranges from $2749 to $10000.
