Toshiba has just launched its new series of external hard drives – Toshiba Canvio. It includes four models featuring 500, 640, 750 GB and 1 TB capacities. All these pocket size devices have been already for order on official Toshiba’s site and cost $120, $140, $160 and $200 respectively. These portable hard drives measure 119х79х17mm. The weight of the 1 TB model is 179g. It is notable that there’s no separate power adapter to cart around – the drives spin off power from the USB 2.0 port. The Toshiba Canvio drives are formatted for use with Windows XP/Vista/7 and ship with Windows-based NTI BackupNow EZ backup software for users who don’t already have a backup solution. But future owners of these devices reformat it for use on Macs.
