At Computex 2011 exhibition Acer announced its new tablet computer. The main feature of Acer Iconia M500 is its operating system – it runs on MeeGo. The device is based on Moorestown platform and has 10.1-inch capacitive touchscreen with 1280x800px resolution, Atom series platform, 5MP camera on the back side, front-facing 2MP webcam, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, HDMI output, 3.5mm headphones jack. No word about release date and price.

Coby Electronic has just announced its new tablet computer to become available for pre-order. Coby Kyros MID1024 runs on Google Android 2.2 Froyo operating system is equipped with 10.1-inch capacitive touchscreen with 1024x600px resolution, 1GHz processor by Samsung, 1GB RAM, 4GB internal storage, MicroSD external memory card slot (up to 32GB), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, HDMI output, front-facing camera, USB 2.0 port, 3.5mm headphones jack, 3000mAh battery. The price of this Android tablet is $270.

ViewSonic has just started shipping of its new tablet computer. ViewSonic ViewPad 10s is based on NVIDIA Tegra 2 platform that includes 1GHz dual-core processor and runs on Google Android 2.2 Froyo operating system. The tablet is equipped with 10.1-inch capacitive touchscreen with 1024x600px resolution, 512MB RAM, 512MB ROM, microSD external memory card slot, 1.3MP front-facing webcam, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, HDMI output, USB port, stereo loud speakers, accelerometer. The dimensions are 276x179x14.5mm, the weight is 730g. The battery of this device provides about 6 hours of work time. In Europe ViewSonic ViewPad 10s will cost EUR299. A version with 3G module will cost EUR99 more.

At China Consumer Electronics Fair exhibition EraThink Technologies company have just demonstrated quite unusual mobile device. EraThink EraPalm is a pocket computer running on Windows 7 operating system. The shape factor of mini-computer is very close to game console’s one. It has sliding screen and full QWERTY keyboard under it. EraThink EraPalm is based on Intel Atom Z series platform and is equipped with 5-inch capacitive touch screen with 800x480px resolution, 1Gb or 2GB RAM, 16/32/64GB SSD, Wi-Fi, 3G module, GPS, USB port, VGA and HDMI outputs. Unfortunately no word about exact release date and price.

Chinese Hanvon intends to show this new device at CeBiT 2011 exhibition that will take next week. Hanvon HPad A112 is positioned as e-reader but its list of specifications is typical for devices of another type – tablets. It is based on ARM11 processor with 720MHz clock and runs on Google Android 2.2 Froyo. The device is equipped with 2GB internal storage, 7-inch capacitive touch screen with 600x800px resolution, frontal 3MP camera, MicroSD external memory card slot, GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 3G module, miniHDMI output, USB port. The battery of this tablet has 3300mAh battery and provides about 8 hours of work time. Hanvon HPad A112 will become available in the beginning of the second quarter of 2011. The price in Europe will be about EUR400.
Together with its new high-end smartphone Acer also showed its first tablets at Mobile World Congress 2011.

The difference between these two tablets is that Acer Iconia Tab A100 has 7-inch touchscreen, 512MB RAM, 1GB ROM while Acer Iconia Tab A500 features 10.1-inch multi-touch display, 1GB RAM, 16GB or 32GB internal storage. It is expected that both these mobile device will become available in April.

In contrast to the A100 and the A500 this device runs not on Android but on Windows 7. Acer Iconia Tab W500 is equipped with 10.1-icnh capacitive touch screen with 1280x800px resolution, AMD C-50 processor, AMD Radeon HD6250 graphics system, 2GB RAM, 32GB SSD. It is notable that this device comes with a doc-station that transforms this tablet to a netbook. Unfortunately there is no word about release date and price.
Viliv (Yukyung Technologies Corporation) has just announced its three coming tablets. Two of the run on Google Android 2.2 Froyo, the last one is powered by Microsoft’s Windows 7 operating system.

According to the producer Android based tablets feature record-breaking battery life. Both Viliv X7 and Viliv X10 can work for about 10 hours. The only difference between these two devices is that the X10 has larger display – 10-inch capacitive touchscreen with 1024x600px resolution, while Viliv X7 is equipped with 7-inch touchscreen (1024x600pixels). In other respects they have an equal list of specifications that includes 1GHz processor by Samsung, 512MB RAM, 8/16/32GB internal storage, MicroSD external memory card slot, 3MP camera on the back side of the device, 1.3MP webcam, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, microUSB port, HDMI output. There are also such optional modules as 3G and WiMAX.

Viliv X70 also has almost the same list of specifications as the X7 and X10. It also has 7-inch capacitive touchscreen with 1024x600px resolution, 512MB RAM, 8GB or 16Gb or 32GB NAND flash storage, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, MicroSD external memory card slot and etc. But as it was said it runs on Windows 7 OS and has more high-powered processor – Intel Oak Trail with 1.5GHz clock frequency. The device has 5600mAh battery that provides about 6 hours of work time.
Previous Toshiba’s tablet computer – Folio 100 was not very successful. But the company is not going to capitulate and will soon release another device of that class. This tablet is based on NVIDIA Tegra 2 platform with dual-core processor and is equipped with 10.1-inch capacitive touch screen with 1280x800px resolution, 5MP camera, frontal 2MP webcam, SD external memory card slot, HDMI output, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, USB and miniUSB ports. The battery of this device provides about 7 hours of video playback. It is expected that this coming Toshiba’s tablet will run on Google Android Honeycomb.

Russian Rover Computers company launched its fist tablet class device. RoverPad 3WT70 features a combination of an affordable price and not bad specifications. This device runs on Google Android 2.1 operating system and is based on Telechips 8902B platform that includes 720MHz processor and 3D graphics accelerator. RoverPad 3WT70 also has 7-inch resistive touch screen with 480x800px resolution, 256MB RAM, 4GB ROM, MicroSD external memory card slot, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, 0.3MP webcam, 3.5mm headphones jack, two miniUSB 2.0 ports, 2500mAh battery. The tablet measures 195х120х14mm and weights 384g. The price of RoverPad 3WT70 is $295.

American Coby company has just announced its new tablet that features a combination of not bad set of specifications and affordable price – $250. Coby Kyros MID7015 runs on Google Android 2.1 and is equipped with 7-inch display with 800x480px resolution, 800MHz Telechips TTC8902 processor, 4GB internal storage, MicroSD external memory card slot, Wi-Fi, 3.5mm headphones jack, 256MB DDR2 RAM, USB port, HDMI output, 3.5mm headphones jack, USB 2.0 port, 3200mAh batter. The device measures 190х120х12.2mm and weights 400g.
