Samsung S8500 Wave

During Mobile World Congress 2010 Samsung showed its new flagship device. Samsung S8500 Wave is the world’s first mobile device running on Bada platform. Other remarkable features of this device are its 1 GHz ARM Cortex A8 processor and 3.3 inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display with 800×480 px resolution and 16 million colors. Samsung Wave also features unique user interface that resembles TouchWiz and combines best solutions of competing mobile platforms. For example there is sliding panel that allows you to manage wireless connections. As for other characteristics this high-end device has 5 Mp camera with autofocus and HD video (1280х720px, 30 fps) recording support, 2 or 8 Gb built-in storage, microSD/HC memory card slot, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP, GPS module and 3.5 headphones jack, The dimensions are 118×56x11 mm. The battery has 1500 mAh capacity and provides 100 hours of music playback. Samsung S8500 Wave will become available in May and will cost about $550.

Ericsson eStore apps store for mobile phones

Ericsson has just announced its own application store for mobile phones. In contrast to analogue Ericsson eStore is targeted not at end users but at mobile operators. It allows them to set-up their own apps store to their consumers. At present moment Ericsson eStore includes more than 30 thousand apps both paid and free. It is expected that new online store will also attracts developers – now they their one app will be published via multiple carriers. It is also said that eStore will include applications  both for smartphones (WinMo, Android, Symbian) and usual phones with Java support.

Symbian^3 official announce

Not only Microsoft announced its new operating system for mobile devices. Symbian Foundation also announced new Symbian^3 OS. It will be released in March and first devices running on this platform will become available by the end of the third quarter of this year. The list of key features includes multiply home screens, improved widgets management, hardware acceleration of visual effects, HDMI, multi-touch and fourth generation networks support. It is also notable that Symbian^3 will be completely open source.

Together with Nuvifone A50 Garmin-Asus announced one more smartphone. Nuvifone M10 will become available in Europe and Asia by the end of the second quarter of this year. But it will be demonstrated at Mobile World Congress 2010 in Barcelona. This smartphone runs on Windows Mobile 6.5.3 operating system with pre-installed UI. This list of technical characteristics is usual for devices of such class and includes 3.5 inch touchscreen display with 800×480 px resolution, 5 Mp camera with flash and autofocus, 600 MHz Qualcomm MSM 7227 processor, 512 Mb RAM, 512 Mb ROM, 4 Gb internal storage, microSDHC memory card slot, A-GPS, Bluetooth 2.1 +EDR, Wi-Fi b/g, 1500 mAh battery and 3.5 mm audio jack. Nuvifone M10 measures 116 x 58 x 14.3 mm and weights 138 g.

Today Singaporean Fusion Garage started mass production of its new device. JooJoo is tablet computer running on UNIX family operating system. Together with this tablet Fusion Garage will release online app store that will be open for third-party developers. The producer also noted that in conterst to Apple iPad this device supports Flash and even HD Flash. As for technical characteristics JooJoo tablet has 12.1 inch touch screen with 1366×768 px resolution and multi-touch technology support, 4 Gb built-in storage, Wi-Fi (802.11b/g), Bluetooth 2.1 +EDR, and 3.5 mm audio jack. The battery provides about 5 hours of work time. The dimensions are 325×199x19 mm, the weight is 1.1 kg. JooJoo is already has been already available for preorder here. The price is $499.

Dell Mini 5 Internet Tablet

According to some sources the prototype of Dell Mini 5 Internet Tablet has been already available to buy in Chinese Shenzhen city. This device has not been officially announced yet but enthusiasts report that Mini 5 is equipped with 5 inch touch screen with 800×480 px resolution, 1 GHz CPU, microSD memory card slot, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, 5 Mp camera with dual LED flash, SIM card slot, 0.3 Mp camera for video calls and 1530 mAh battery that provides about 6 hours of work time. The operating system is Google Android 1.6.

LG Apollo: the first WM7 communicator

According to pocketnow.com Microsoft is going to introduce Windows Mobile 7 on Mobile World Congress 2010 exhibition that will take place in February. The first device running on new operating system will be LG Apollo. This communicator will feature 10 Mp camera with HD video (1280х720) recording support and 3.8 inch touch AMOLED screen with multi-touch technology support (WM7 will support multi-touch). It is also said LG Apollo will have 1.3 GHz Qualcomm QSD8650 CPU, 1 GB RAM, 1 GB ROM, microSD memory card slot (up to 32GB), Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth modules.

Today some Symbian developers published some more information about new features and functions of coming version of popular OS for mobile devices. In particular there will be a header that will contain the name of running application, battery level and other useful information. By pressing on this header user will be able to get quick access to options menu. It is also know that new version of Symbian will have more than one home screen and support widgets.

A Revolutionary new bicycle wheel by MIT

A group of researchers from Massachusetts Institute of Technology has just announced its technology. Copenhagen Wheel is revolutionary new bicycle wheel that not only boosts power, but can keep track of friends, fitness, smog and traffic. It connects to mobile device and transfers sensors data via Bluetooth. New wheel also can be used as lock. When Bluetooth connection breaks special mechanism locks the wheel.

Skype for Symbian beta version release

Skype has just released the first beta version of its VoIP client for Symbian. It has almost all features that version for desktop computers have. Skype for Symbian supports free Skype-to-Skype calls, SkypeOut calls, instant messaging, group conversation, files exchange and etc. Unfortunately not all Symbian devices are compatible with new Skype. It supports smartphones that run on Symbian S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1 and Feature Pack 2. But next versions are planned to be compatible with more phones.
