New Nokia 500 smartphone

Yesterday Nokia officially introduced its new smartphone featuring a combination of Symbian Anna operating system and 1GHz processor. Nokia 500 also has 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen with 640x360px resolution, 2GB internal storage, MicroSD card slot, 5MP camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, FM radio, light sensor, accelerometer. Supported network standards are GSM/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 and WCDMA 850/900/1700/1900/2100. The dimensions are 111х54х14.1, the weight is less than 100g. The battery of this phone provides about 7 hours of talk time or 20 of standby time or 35 hours of music playback. This smartphone will be available in several colors. But there will be also many-colored replaceable panels. Nokia 500 will be released in net few weeks and will cost just EUR150.


Dell Streak 10 Pro Android Honeycomb tablet

Today Dell introduced its first tablet computer running on Google Android 3.1 Honeycomb operating system. Like many other tablets of such class Dell Streak 10 Pro is based on NVIDIA Tegra 2 platform and is equipped with 10-inch 1280х800px capacitive touchscreen with Gorilla Glass protective covering, 1GB RAM, two cameras – 2MP front-facing webcam and 5MP sensor on the back side, external memory card slot, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, microUSB port. The battery of this tablet provides about 12 hours of work time. In next few weeks a version of Dell Streak 10 Pro with 16GB internal storage will become available in China for $465.

New CDMA Android 2.3 smartphone by Huawei

Cricket mobile operator has just introduced an heir of Huawei Ascend that is a version of Huawei U8230 supporting CDMA networks. Huawei Ascend II runs on Google Android 2.3 operating system and is equipped with 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen with 480x320px resolution, 600MHz processor, 5MP camera, 512MB RAM, MicroSD external memory card slot, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, 3.5mm headphones jack. The smartphone measures 117х61х12.7mm and weights 116g. At present moment Huawei Ascend II is exclusively available only in Cricket’s shops for $180 without any additional obligations. In other countries this smartphone will become available later and will get another commercial name.

Sony Ericsson Xperia duo

Phone Arena source has just published some pics and list of specifications of coming Sony Ericsson’s flagship smartphone – Xperia duo. This high-end device features 4.5-inch 960x540px capacitive touchscreen supporting Bravia Engine technology, 1.4GHz dual-core processor, 1.5GB RAM, 12MP Exmor R camera, and 2500mAh battery. The smartphone is powered by Google Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system. It is expected that Sony Ericsson Xperia duo will become available in the beginning of September, 2011.

Archos showed its two coming high-end tablets

Together with its budget-class tablet Archos also announced two high-end devices. Archos 80 G9 and Archos 101 G9 have the same list of specifications, the only exclusion is that the 80 G9 has 8-inch screen with 1024x768px resolution while the 101 G9 is equipped with 10.1-inch capacitive display with 1280x800px resolution.

Both these tablets run on Google Android 3.1 Honeycomb and have 1.5GHz TI OMAP 4 processor, 16GB internal flash storage, 250GB thin Seagate Momentus hard drive, MicroSD external memory card slot, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, front-facing camera, USB port, HDMI output.

The producer will also offer optional 3G module that is designed specifically for these tablets and after the installation is almost merges with the body. Archos 80 G9 will cost $280 while Archos 101 G9 will be available for $350. The release will take place in the beginning of September.

Nokia N9 official announce

Today Nokia officially introduced its new device positioned as next company’s flagship smartphone. Nokia N9 features a thin case made of whole piece of polycarbonate. The device has no hardware buttons – the screen has concave surface covered with Gorilla Glass and takes almost all space on the front side of the smartphone. Nokia N9 runs on MeeGo 1.2 operating system and is based on Texas Instruments OMAP 3630 processor with 1GHz clock and PowerVR SGX530 graphics accelerator. The list of specifications of this coming smartphone also includes 3.9-inch capacitive AMOLED touchscreen with 480x854px resolution, 8MP camera with double LED flash, front-facing camera for video calls, 1GB RAM, 16/32/64GB internal storage, NFC chip, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, 3.5mm headphones jack. The battery of this device provides up to 11 hours of talk time or 4.5 hours of video playback or 50 hours of music playback. The dimensions are 116.5х61.2х7.6-12.1mm. The weight is 135g. Nokia N9 will become available till the end of the third quarter of 2011. No word about price.


New LG’s dual-screen QWERTY smartphone

Pocket-link has just published first photos of coming LG’s smartphone that has not been officially announced yet. LG Flip II is a horizontal QWERTY slider featuring two displays – a big 3-inch capacitive touchscreen and a small one that shows shortcuts of most used apps. Journalists don’t share any specifications but it is known that this device runs on Google Android 2.2 Froyo. It is expected that T-Mobile will release LG Flip II in next few weeks.


Motorola WILDER rugged touchphone

Motorola has just introduced its new mobile phone featuring rugged case. Motorola WILDER is an entry level touchphone in water, dust, scratch, shock resistant body. The phone also features two displays – 2.8-inch resistive touchscreen with 240x360px resolution and 0.7-inch OLED display showing service information including time, battery and cell signal level. Other specifications of this mobile device are 2MP camera, Bluetooth 2.1, 5MB internal storage, FM radio, 3.5mm headphones jack, MicroSD external memory card slot (up to 32GB). The battery has 910mAh capacity and provides about 10 hours of talk time or 11 days of standby one. The list of pre-installed software includes client apps providing quick access to Facebook, MySpace, Twitter and YouTube. Motorola WILDER will become available in July and will cost $82.

Motorola XT882 high-end dual-core smartphone

Motorola has just showed its new smartphone that will become available In China in next few weeks. It is Motorola XT882. It runs on Google Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system and is based on NVIDIA Tegra 2 T250 platform that includes dual-core processor with 1.2GHz clock. Motorola XT882 also features Dual-SIM function support and can work with both GSM and CDMA networks. As for other specifications the device has 4-inch capacitive touchscreen with 540x960px resolution, ULP GeForce (AP20H) graphics accelerator, 8MP camera with double LED flash and 1080p recording capability, 0.3MP webcam, 512MB RAM, 8GB internal storage, MicroSD external memory card slot, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, FM radio, 3.5mm headphones jack, HDMI output, 1880mAh battery. The body of the device measures 122.1х62.5х13.15mm and weights 136.5g. The price of Motorola XT882 high-end smartphone will be about $830.

Acer showed MeeGo-powered tablet

At Computex 2011 exhibition Acer announced its new tablet computer. The main feature of Acer Iconia M500 is its operating system – it runs on MeeGo. The device is based on Moorestown platform and has 10.1-inch capacitive touchscreen with 1280x800px resolution, Atom series platform, 5MP camera on the back side, front-facing 2MP webcam, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, HDMI output, 3.5mm headphones jack. No word about release date and price.
